Vegetarinskomu Society of Russia - 100 years!
December 1 marks the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the first Vegetarian Society in Russia. This is - an event of national significance. On this day, the representatives of the vegetarian movement in Russia will meet vegetarians in Pushkin Square in Moscow (starting at 14:00, 1 December). The purpose of the meeting - to attract the public in the country to the fact of the existence in Russia vegetarian movement. Since the time of the October Revolution, Soviet authorities tried every means to destroy and discredit the idea of vegetarianism. Hanging up on the vegetarian label "pseudo-adherents of Western culture," "sectarianism" and "vermin of the Soviet health" - the authorities have closed all the vegetarian society for many years pursued the leaders of the vegetarian movement, hampered the development of medicine and the production of vegetarian food, destroy the culture of the Russian vegetarian diet, planted in the minds of the population the idea that vegetarianism - not spiritual, moral life, but only a vegetable diet.
